Toastmasters Polska SA Club - 15 Years Young
Ladies and Gentlemen, on the 1st of July 2009 we celebrated the 15th anniversary of chartering the Toastmasters Polska – Speakers Anonymous club.
And what a celebration it was! Just take a look at the agenda:

The evening started with a joyful reunion of some long time not seen but how dear to our hearts friend and guests.

As the emotions were arising, we kicked off the official part with Edward Till taking the lead of the meeting,

We had a great pleasure to hear some of the best speeches from some of our greatest performers:
- Karol Liszczyk,
- Andrzej Biesiekirski,
- Jerzy Gzula,
- Etan Sanders,
- Dolores Skovron
- and Dorothy Dabrowski
Then Ewa Ratajska passed the voice to the audience and allowed us to reflect on the past and reminisce some of the best Toasmasters stories during the Table Topics session.

Finally the birthday cake came in and the informal celebration unfolded.

Back home from 13th Corpus Christi Retreat
Time really flies when you’re enjoying yourself! The 13th Annual Corpus Christi Retreat passed like a flash leaving all the participants with memories of a fantastic time spent with great people in the beautiful surroundings of Borne Sulinowo.
Last long weekend over 40 people from various Toastmasters Clubs in Poland and abroad spent four days on sightseeing, cycling around Pile Lake, paintball, exploring gloomy bunkers, listening to fascinating stories from the past, experiencing a roller-coaster trip with an old military car and canoeing on the Piława despite the challenging weather. Playing “secret killer”, poker and mafia were also extremely popular.
The highlight of the CCR was clearly the traditional Speech Marathon led by Edward Till. After four hours of listening to ingenious speeches on diverse subjects the delighted audience chose their favorites. Ewa Ratajska was voted to be the best speaker of the evening with her instruction speech “How to become a tramp”. The second place went to Jerzy Gzula presenting the speech “Fear is the key”. Last but not least Etan Sanders won the third prize with his speech on superiority of one alcoholic beverage over another one.
Congratulations to all the organizers and other people who’ve turned the excellent idea of traveling together into success and thank you all for being there and making those days so special!
I’m sure I’ll not miss the 14th Corpus Christi Retreat year 2010. Make sure to be there too!
Best regards,
Urszula Kubka

Toastmasters teach public speking outside the club
It’s been said once you become Toastmasters, you are Toastmasters. I was wondering what is so tempting in the idea of Toastmasters, what makes people scarify their private time and energy to be an active member for years. Toastmaster is responsible for her or his own growth in the club, she or he is the one who set goals and raise the crossbar by taking new projects. I strongly believe in self control and self determination as the main components of success in personal development. Therefore I appreciate the fact that our club start actively promotes the idea of Toastmasters by launching Speechcraft which is a program of cyclical meeting which structure is based on Toastmasters educational program, and the aim of those meeting is to practice essential public speaking skills. It is always conducted by an experienced Toastmaster in selected environment. At this moment has been launched the new edition, which coordinators are Karolina Smoron Cao and Błażej Gocałek, who works for Procter&Gamble. Karolina is very active member, strongly devoted executive of the club Toastmasters Polska. Błażej is very promising member, who confirm his talent and great sense of humor in some speeches given in our club.
I’m looking forward to tell you about companies and organizations in which Toastmasters will be present. If you are interested in this part of club’s activity do not hesitate to contact Karolina, Błażej or me.
Regards,
Anna Jędrzej
International successes
It's not even a year since Toastmasters in Poland have become a part of European district. However our members already achieved significant international successes.
After competing at club and national level Edward Till and Monika Krolak went to Leipzig, Germany for Division Contest Speech. They brought back 4 out of 11 trophies.
Edward Till took:
1st place in English Evaluation Contest (and will further compete at District Conference in Düsseldorf) and 2nd place in speech contest.
Monika Krolak took:
2nd place in German Evaluation Contest and 2nd place in English Evaluation Contest.
CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS AND THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE EFFORT OF REPRESENTING AREA C4!

It's time for Spring Cleaning
Dear Fellow Toastmasters,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our Toastmasters Meeting on the 8th of April at 7 PM, Collegium Civitas, The Palace of Culture and Science.
Scientific research shows that there there is a high risk of getting lazy when the spring approaches. But there is a solution! We are going to do some great SPRING CLEANING! We will start with the Palace of Culture and Science. This may take a meeting or two. As soon as we are done, there are plenty of other untidy places in the city centre to choose from.
The Broom Master - the person having fun looking how hard we work will be Ewa Ratajska.
During our intensive efforts to make PKiN a nice and shiny place, 3 brilliant speakers will be entertaining us with:
* Marcin Grzelak : his ICE BREAKER
* Karol Iacocca Liszczyk : Hannibal at the gates.
* Piotr Wiktorowski : ?
Dariusz Jaworowski will ask you some detailed questions about cleaning techniques. Fear not - you are entitled to a relaxing 3-minute break in your cleaning duty while answering.
You can check agenda details (and a long list of things to clean) at:
http://easy-speak.district59-toastmasters.org/viewagenda.php?t=4727
Don't come without a broom or a dust-cleaner! Let's make our spring flourishing world a spotless place! The last person to come cleans ALL the stairs.)
Kindest regards,
Franciszek Szych
